The Musings of The Music Man

Tidbits

(edit: written last night, posted this morning)
So before I begin my work for the night which might end up in an all nighter, the first in a long time, I have to lay down a few things that I have been pondering for the past couple days. Typical blog stuff so if that isn’t your cup of tea then tune in later when I will have a new episode of Chris’s Playlist.
1. Since I wrote the article on DRM I have seen exactly 2 billion articles online regarding DRM. They have just been popping out at me. I figure its a brain tuning thing. Have you ever learned a completely new word that you have never heard before in your life? Then in the same day you proceeded to hear it several times? It’s not that it wasn’t there before, it’s just that you brain got tuned to it. This explanation is for those fans of Scott Adams so if it doesn’t make sense, don’t worry about it. I just really love it when that happens. Makes me feel important.
2. I find myself chasing the math at both ends as I delve deeper and deeper into the world of casino blackjack. In the process I have refined my skills including card counting (which I thought I would never want to learn) and now I am down to 16 secs for a single deck countdown. It’s not any record by any means (the record I know of is eight secs. Sheesh) but I find it is suficient for single deck and double deck face down games and more than enough for a shoe game.
3. Along the same blackjack theme, I currently trying to re-invent the wheel. I am in the process of developing a count system. In my research I have found several different counting systems (hi/lo, hi-opt I & II, Uston’s APC, Red 7, KO etc…) and have been testing them slowly but surely. I believe there is a flaw inherent in all of these systems and I am working to rectify it. Of course this comes from someone who has only seriously been studying this game for a month whereas all these systems were mostly developed by experts who also hold advanced math degrees. I don’t think some punk ass kid is going to be able to revolutionize blackjack playing methods that have been around for 40 years but hey, I can try right? I will most likely drive myself completely insane while doing this but I have to say, this is remarkably soothing for me. Like I said in #2, I am chasing the math on both ends and I am loving every minute of it. It’s quite amazing to see the varying strengths and weaknesses in the systems I am using. Especially using some of the software that keeps track of wins and loses and being several thousand dollars ahead in these simulations. Not that I could achieve the same thing in a casino (for various reasons) but it’s great anecdoctal evidence anyway. And if I happen to figure out a way to do it, I am moving to Vegas and opening a gambling school.
Thanks for reading and commenting as always. Take it easy yall.
Oh and if you have the time (I know you do if you’re reading this shit) then head on over to the OneKidneyWonder.net forums. http://www.onekidneywonder.net/forums and check out “The Show.” Great stuff

man just when i was about to post in the forums about when your going to make an update. I was also going to post when is a new Chris’s Playlist coming. I really like the last one ’cause it was video and I keep watching those vidz on my xbox360 while im doing work at my laptop. I’m kinda sick today so it’s nice that i was up really late last night downloading music vidz, cause i can watch them on my 360. I found out last night after messing with the 360s remote that I can fast forward certain video types, while others I can only jump around through the vid using the chapter buttons, its really weird. Anyways keep updating. I need more to read online. Keep practicing the cards too ’cause were going to vegas in march! :)
