cool night. My love affair with the awesome band Thursday has been
renewed tonight as Art requests it on the way home from pizza palace.
Art and Rose came over tonight to help us put up our Christmas tree
and get it all decorated as well as decorate our apartment. We are
totally gonna win the decorating contest. Not really, but our place
and the tree looks pretty cool. After decorating we decided to
unwind at the old pizza palace. We played pool, but Alyssa and Rose
were victorious over Art and I. Not that Art didn’t get in one bad
ass shot and I pulled off one as well. But we all did pretty good.
Anyway, now I am just kicking back listening to Thursday. Division
St. is one damn good song. I was realizing the reason I like them
so much is because they always seem like they are right on the edge
of a musical explosion. They play such an utter disregard to song
structure. The vocal quality of the lead singer is so unique.
Attention all you musicians out there trying to “hit it big.” If you
really want to do it, the key is offering the audience something
that no else is giving them. Nirvana broke through because they
offered pop song structures and melodies in the context of punk rock.
Listening to them is almost like listening to the Beatles with a
ragged edge. Of course, the recording studios know this and will
saturate the market with clones. The Used come to mind for Thursday.
Anyway, be different in the sea of normality and do it right and
good things will come.

Not that I advocate “hitting it big.”
