WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank God the freaking snare line is clean!!!!!

It took them a few rehearsals of playing together but I think what really helped it was having Jared there yesterday at the sectional. I was very much interested in defining some strokes for the tenor line yesterday and was hoping to have a sectional rehearsal with just me and them. Unfortunately Jared showed up late and I went ahead and had a full rehearsal with snares and tenors. Anway, I was working hard getting some dirt clean with the tenors and Jared finally showed up. I guess he over slept. Anyway, we spent some time defing those pesky double accented paradiddles. They are difficult cause of the extremes in dynamics and the sheer speed. Jared was really making the snare line his bitch. Anyway, I felt like we made some headway and I was right: the snares were on fire today. The battery trash section, named as such since the battery plays a bunch of loud notes while at the same time sort of challenging the rhythm structure (just like the actual Mars Volta drummer), was freaking beautiful. The battery was continually nailing it but particularly the snares were hitting with a great accuracy. Unheard of for this time as year and especially since we moved to a 4 man snare line instead of 3. Also of particular note today, the tenor section, for completely orchestrating the stick change to the puffies. I decided that because of that, and if I can find them cheap enough, the puffies mallets are on me. You guys are rocking the house. Hopefully next week I remember to charge my camera battery and I will get some video footage up on the website. Stay tuned….

Yeah, you should come on down. Brian and Sherrie came by and said they really like the arrangements. I think it’s going to be a winner.
