This was how I started my Sunday…

The accident occured at 3:30am on Sunday. On my way to Dream Camp I drive on the 101 north to pick up a bass drummer that lives in Hollywood. I saw the sig alert before I left and I decided that I could just jump off the freeway a few exits before the one I need (the off ramp right past the accident) and take the city streets thru hollywood to pick him up. So my detour in my head would be 10mins dependant on traffic but hey, it’s Sunday morning right? How many cars are gonna be on the road?
I was actually very lucky that my delay was only 45 mins (to drive the 2 mile detour around the accident). Since a person was killed, they have to do an investigation to determine if criminal charges would be filed. Apparently the investigation took the better part of a day as I heard that the freeway wasn’t opened until 5pm. That’s right, the accident was at 3:30am and the freeway was re-opened at 5pm…OVER 12 HOURS LATER!!! Like I was saying, I am lucky that my commute only had a 45 min delay, as I heard on the news later that night, that delay turned into 4 hours for a lot of people!
Anyway, I drove past the accident site on the detour set up and it was horrific. Twisted metal, cars strewn about the freeway and the victims sitting on the side of the freeway trying to make sense of it all. I am so glad that I have never been in accident like that and I hope I never will. Make sure all of you always drive safely and defensively. You never know when something like this will happen. Thanks for listening and Peace out.

I only got in one accident. It wasn’t that bad, everyone wound up okay but I was FREAKED! I have witnessed way too many accidents though. I think it messes with my head.

OMG Duude, I was totally on the 405 like all day yesterday too! Went to pick up Adam from LAX. I was wondering why there was so much traffic on it. XM said something about an accident that was still getting cleaned up on the 101, but they didn’t say much about it.

It is always awful when you can look at a car that was in an accident and know someone just died.
