Good weekend
it started out with a rehearsal with the Bell Gardens Drumline. They got a chance to feel a little like rock stars as we had some kids from a nearby school checking them out as they rehearsed. After practice was over they came up and told how much they liked them. Sadly, I wished we had a better rehearsal as the kids were still learning the closer drill and music so it was, to put it mildly, rough. Apparently it was enough to impress the neighboring high school though. Oh well.
After I got home Saturday we packed up and went to Bakersfield. I haven’t been to Bako in a while (since May) so my family was very happy to see me. They were also very happy to see my pregnant Alyssa. Although they all one point rubbed the belly, only Art and possibly my Dad got to feel the baby kick.
It was actually a very baby packed weekend as my little brother Anthony and his girlfriend Trish had their baby this weekend. Veronica Rose. I am very happy for him but it sucks that he can’t be with her right now. He has a crazy work schedule. She is being taken care of by her parents and Anthony is home working hard to provide for her for when they move in together. True, they are a little young but I am sure Anthony will work hard to make sure they are Ok. At least he got to be there when she was born but of course he had to turn back around to be at work the next day.
My parents got a lot of baby clothes this weekend. For Anthony and Trish and for Lys and I. My dad still doesn’t want to know if it’s a boy or girl so we bought a lot of neutral colors but we got a lot of stuff. Plus, we had a Gottshalks gift card and we bought some as well. It’s getting very real as we are starting to get the baby stuff packed into the apartment. This week we are planning on getting a crib. And in December we are planning on having the baby shower (don’t worry, invites are going to be sent out) so we will have even more stuff. Frankly, I can’t wait to see my little Bean.
Anyway, one crappy item about this weekend: My camera broke. I have been treating it kinda hard but I never expected it to actually break. This makes 2 for me. I had an HP 5 megapixel cam before but I kept it in my backpack (which I throw anywhere and everywhere) and broke the LCD screen. It still took pics but you couldn’t see them until you uploaded. So I bought a Canon camera (MUCH better camera) in March and proceeded to treat it the same way in spite of warnings from my wife. And sure enough, I broke it. More specifically, The zoom lever/shutter button broke off. I took it apart to try to fix it (as I usually have a knack with electronics) however, I think there is a bent spring loaded piece that is shorting out on the battery cable and now the camera won’t work. DAMMIT!!!! I have only had this cam for 7 months and I already have to replace it. And I definitely have to replace it for my upcoming daughter. I have my eye on a couple of cameras already. I would love to get the Canon G9 but realistically, I will probably end up getting another A series camera. The one I had was really good. The only feature it didn’t have that I wanted was OIS. Now the A series cameras have it at a reasonable price.
Anyway, I have babbled for way too long. Here’s another song of the moment
