These are my exercise stats as of yesterday.
In addition to keeping track of my diet, I also have an excel spreadsheet to log all my time spent at the gym. Initially it started out as a way to keep track of the gym expenses (ie. figuring out exactly how much per hour the gym membership was costing me and determining if it was worth it) but it grew into a way of monitoring the distance traveled, time spent, and calories burned while in the gym…provided I was on a machine that could keep track of it and not weight training.
The cool thing is being able to look back on when I just started and seeing how much progress I have made. For instance, on the very 1st night at the gym, I spent the entire hour on the treadmill and was barely able to do 3 miles. I don’t remember much about that night except having to spend a long time just walking because I just couldn’t bring myself to even jog. In contrast, now I spend 25 minutes on the treadmill running at 7mph (a 9 minute mile) and do 2.5 miles. It’s 4 minutes of warm up at a light jog and 21 solid minutes of running now. I still think I am a long way from marathon ready but it is amazing to me that I have made so much progress.
At any rate…my weight loss goals are humming along as well. Last I checked (2 weeks ago) I was up to 35 pounds lost. Only 15 pounds to go and I will be a nice healthy 175. I might actually change my weight loss goal to a % body fat goal as well. That will come in the last phase though, as I make an appointment with a doctor and get a general check up and assessment of my health.
