Welcome to the first edition of Chris’s Playlist of the New Year. Hopefully your holiday season has been as good as mine. Sorry it’s been so long. I had intended this to be twice weekly and for the first week, it was. However, as you understand if you are married, the winter time is a hectic time for me and update my blogcast twice a week can become very difficult. Not to mention my inherent laziness. So anyway, enough excuses and on to the show…
Death Cab For Cutie has hit the big time. Not to mention their ever growing fan base, they have recently signed to a major label (not to worry, it’s just for some heavy muscled distribution), been on all kinds of TV shows (Conan, Last Call, etc..) and now the real big measure of success: Saturday Night Live. So for your listening and viewing pleasure I present the 2 performaces from the SNL appearance on Jan. 14. They are in divx format so update your codecs if necessary.

Personally, I would have like to see an older song as their second performance but it makes too much sense to do another song from the new record. Besides all the TV appearances (or perhaps because of) that is the only thing that would make you notice that these guys aren’t on an independant label anymore. The record needs to be pushed so we will play songs from the new album. I understand the thinking but still, maybe Sound of Settling from the last album (a much better album IMHO).
