Chris’s Playlist #04 1/25/06

[Listening to: My Sundown - Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American Demo (3:10)]

Welcome to Chris’s Playlist episode 4. This week finds me deeply rooted in math and hardly contemplating what I was going to put up here. In the hopes of using this podcast as an artist promotion platform I am going to start dedicating the episodes to one artist and try to post video along with audio. Last episode was a recent favorite of mine but this weeks explores a band that haven’t done much lately but I still dig: Jimmy Eat World. Note: All video is in mp4 format encoded for the iPod video.

If You Don’t, Dont Live footage from the Dreaworks DVD “Believe In What You Want”

This is great live footage from Jimmy Eat World’s First full length DVD (of which I hope there will be many more). JEW is a great live band as I have seen them twice now. The first involved a terrible story of Bad Car Luck. We loaded up the Foo van and headed down to SoCal to check out a free show on a college campus. We got there just in time to catch their last 2 songs of the set. Bummer, however I got an autographed copy of their singles CD and Lyssa got her arm autographed (side note: she did not get her stomach autographed as Jim Adkins was too shy). So not too bad of a day so far. However, on the drive home the van started shaking uncontrollably. Long story short, the CV joint was fucked so we couldn’t drive home on it. The large crew had to wait several hours for Crystal’s and Nacho’s Dad to come and rescue us and cripple us back home. Sheesh

My Sundown My Sundown video from a studio session on the Dreamworks DVD “Believe In What You Want”

This video comes with a bonus audio file. The video has the song as arraged on the final album version “Bleed American.” However, when I got a pre-release demo version of the album I was shocked that the song is so much different than the original. IMHO, I think that they lost alot of the ambiance of the song by making it more traditionally “rock.” So I present to you the original demo version recorded almost 7 months before the album came out. You be the judge…
